Hi,
this is Franco a bass player from Italy.
I have a little request for Mr. Lyle Mays.
In 1993 I was in Emeryville , California where I enjoyed a wonderful concert
of Lyle with his quartet ( the bass player was Marc Johnson )
The concert happened in a very good jazz hall named Kimball East
The concert was very good and I liked very much a particular tune.
I'm going to describe that tune...
It was a very slow tempo (even eights style) with the ending so beautiful
and neverending.
I remember I discovered my self praying that it had not ending
I remember that like one of the greatest emotion in my life coming from
music
I would like to know the title and if it was a Lyle's tune and furthermore
if it exists on CD....
I know this is a wierd request but please... let me know

Thank you
Franco

Have you heard Lyle's 1st Solo LP? There are some beatiful moments on that,
for sure.

Hi Steven,

You Might want to check out Lyle's web sight. www.lylemays.com I noticed
there was a list of songs he has done as a soloist and with other artists.
The tune you are writing of may be on the list.

Cheers!

Jesse

According your description it might be "Au Lait". Are the eights coming
slightly in a sort of Tango?

AFAIK the quartet played Au Lait on that tour, at least it is on the Warshaw
concert. It could also be "August".

You find Au Lait on "offramp" of the Pat Metheny Group and August on Lyle
May's "Street Dreams".
